Twitter’s Vine app has evolved into its own community of six-second video creators, including a number of musicians who’ve gone on to success on YouTube and the iTunes charts. Its latest update is small, but significant: the ability for Vine users to favourite individual accounts, and get notified whenever they post a new video. “Simply tap the star in the top right corner of a user’s profile to make them a favourite,” explained Vine engineer Felix Fung in a blog post. “You will receive a push notification and a notification in your Activity feed every time your favourites post a Vine… We’ve been testing this feature at Vine, and it’s really helped us keep up with the people and Vines we care about most.” Expect a blizzard of videos from savvy Viners reminding fans to tap the star, to benefit from Vine’s new equivalent to YouTube subscriptions.
