Whiskey, music and GIFs… together at last! That’s the high-concept pitch for a project involving band Wild Beasts, animator Mattis Dovier and whiskey brand Jameson, anyway. Wild Beasts and Dovier worked together on a “GIF-novel” featuring two unreleased tracks: ‘Soft Future’ and ‘Blood Knowledge’. They’re presented with a series of animated GIFs using pixel art and manga influences. It’s all part of The Jameson Works project, one of several such branded initiatives trying to bring together creators from different artforms. “We loved the idea of the GIF being the current comic strip and I think we’ve managed to achieve this in a new and innovative way with the GIF-novel,” said Wild Beasts in a statement. A nifty use for two tracks that were recorded for their last album, but dropped from the tracklisting before its release.
