Apple-owned Beats Electronics and its co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dre Dre are facing a new lawsuit this week, from one of the company’s early partners. Technology firm Monster collaborated with Beats on its original headphones, but the partnership later ended, seemingly unamicably. Now Monster is suing Beats claiming that Iovine and Dre concealed the company and its CEO Noel Lee’s role in designing those first Beats headphones and the technology inside them. With Lee claiming a 5% stake in Beats in those early days, Apple’s later $3bn acquisition of the company means there is big money at stake in the lawsuit. Although, as may be more likely, there is also big money available to settle before it gets to court, if the company decides that’s the best option.
