Google has been gradually expanding its “expanded answer cards” feature on its search engine – the box that pops up when people search for music artists. Yesterday brought some new options, including the ability for artists to mark up ticketing links on their websites, and then have those links appear when people search on Google. “As before, you may write the event markup directly into your site’s HTML, or simply install an event widget that builds in the markup for you automatically – like Bandsintown, BandPage, GigPress, ReverbNation or Songkick,” explained Google. Artists can also tell Google to draw their list of upcoming gigs from another website, while venues are also being encouraged to markup their listings so that events appear on the search engine.
