Pioneering group TLC are recording another album – their final one – and they’re turning to Kickstarter to fund it.

The remaining band members are looking to raise $150k on the crowdfunding website for their first studio album since the death of founding member Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes in 2002. “While major labels offer artists multimillion dollar recording and marketing budgets, they don’t often give artists complete control of their own music,” explained the band. “It is ESSENTIAL that we create our final album completely on our own terms, without any restrictions, with YOU.” Note, they’re looking for much more than their official target: the $150k will go towards a writing session only: “The money beyond that will go to booking music producers, writing sessions, mixing sessions, recording sessions, and SO much more…” One day in, the campaign is already nudging $50k.
