Last year, we wrote about the lucrative success of mobile game Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, and wondered which musicians might be able to carry a similar thing off. A few months later, and that game’s publisher Glu Mobile has inked a five-year deal with Katy Perry for a game due for release on iOS and Android by the end of 2015.
“Featuring Katy’s voice, likeness, and personality, the game will introduce players to a digital playground of global success and talent,” explained the publisher. No mention of sharks, but we’re hopeful: Glu says it will give more details about the game and “Katy’s involvement” later this year. “It’s fair to say that it’s not going to be a shooter,” said CEO Niccolo de Masi in the company’s earnings call last night. The Kardashian game made $29.3m in the final quarter of 2014, with Kim rumoured to be on a 45% revenue share deal.
