Ricky Martin has a new album out tomorrow (10 February), and Sony Music is pushing the boat out on the digital activity around it with something called RickyAQQE Fan Pass Day today. Martin will be interacting with fans via Facebook Q&As, Skype chats and Twitter chats, with Google+ and Instagram joining the party.
There are also activities with iTunes, Vevo, Billboard, Live Nation/Yahoo; big blogs (Perez Hilton, Hugo Gloss); Spanish and Mexican media properties Cadena Dial, EXA FM and People en Espanol; and TV appearances in the US. It’s a whirlwind of digital (and traditional media) activity building on an iTunes ‘First Play’ pre-release stream in the US, Latin America, Spain and Turkey last week. According to Sony, it’s one of the most aggressive album-release campaigns in the Latin music industry for years, particularly with the rolling three-hour digital takeover that kicks off at 12pm PST today.
