Jack White’s image may be very much analogue, but that doesn’t stop him experimenting with some digital technology. Witness the new interactive video for his single ‘That Black Bat Licorice’, which was released yesterday. Described as a “3-in-1” video, it lets fans swap between three different videos for the song: one animated, one live action, and one “headbang video”.

The video can be watched on a computer or a tablet, flicking between the three alternatives at will. A simple but clever idea, neatly done: the headbanging is impressive, too. There’s still an analogue tie-in, mind: fans watching the video on White’s site are able to click through to buy the famously “ultra” vinyl edition of his ‘Lazaretto’ album.
