Music videos service Muzu has been around for several years, but now it’s getting an official iPhone and iPad app. Released last week, it provides mobile access to the site’s catalogue of music videos. “Browse featured videos, popular videos, playlists and genre, or search through the largest legal catalogue of music videos online,” claims its App Store listing, parking its tanks firmly on Vevo and YouTube’s lawn.
The app’s design is clean and simple, navigating with thumbnails of videos and a left-hand menu to access charts, playlists and editorial recommendations. It’s likely to be popular if rivals are any indication: Vevo says that 49.5% of its monthly views happen on mobile and connected TV devices, for example. Muzu already has apps available for Xbox 360, Samsung and Sony smart TVs and Windows 8 devices.
