Facebook announced a new milestone yesterday: more than 2m advertisers on the social network, which is up from 1.5m in July 2014. “You’re creating jobs, sharing new ideas and inspiring all of us to dream big,” wrote CEO Mark Zuckerberg and COO Sheryl Sandberg in a misty-eyed blog post announcing the new figure.

There was more news on a practical level too: the launch of an iOS app called Ads Manager, which has made its debut in the US ahead of a global rollout. The app can be used to create Facebook ads, edit existing ones, and track their performance, including using push notifications. It builds on the popularity of the existing Ads Manager mobile site, which Facebook says is used by more than 800k advertisers every month. Strangely, Android has been left out for launch: “We’re currently building ads manager app for Android and expect to launch it later this year,” explained the social network.
