We’ve seen a few livestreaming services come in Music Ally’s lifetime – and, indeed, a fair few go. The latest is Meerkat, which is using Twitter as its distribution platform for live video. “Meerkat allows you to stream live video from your phone to all of your Twitter followers at once.
Press ‘Stream’, and instantly your live video stream shows up in your follower’s Twitter feeds,” explains its App Store listing. It encourages users to get their followers to download the Meerkat app too – if they do, they’ll be able to get push notifications when new streams go live, and comment on what they’re watching. It’s all live, although streams can be saved on the broadcaster’s iOS device then re-streamed at any point. It may be worth a look for some musicians with large, engaged Twitter followings.
