Twitter recently launched native video features for people to shoot, edit and share clips from its mobile apps. What you couldn’t do was subsequently embed those videos elsewhere on the web. You can now, through an ‘Embed Video’ feature accessed from the dropdown options menu on tweets.
What’s more the feature works for videos uploaded through Twitter’s Amplify program, which could prove useful for labels using that to premiere new music videos. The news came as Twitter’s relationship with livestreaming app Meerkat was under scrutiny, after the company blocked Meerkat users’ tweets sent from within the app. The app, which has signed up more than 10,000 users in three days, lets people broadcast live video to their Twitter followers. The block has since been removed though. We suspect Meerkat’s business model revolves around being bought by Twitter at some point, mind.
