2015 is the year when plastic-instrument console music games come back, seemingly. We’ve heard about the imminent return of Guitar Hero, and now it’ll be joined by Rock Band. The game’s original developer, Harmonix, has announced plans to release Rock Band 4 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year, five years after the last game in the series. 

As before, there’ll be drums, guitar and microphone peripherals, and a large catalogue of downloadable songs for people to play along to. Harmonix also said that it’s thinking of Rock Band 4 as a long-term platform that’ll get new features over time, rather than the first in a new line of individual sequels.
