“We weathered the storm together, and survived. Thanks for sticking with us.” No, not a quote from Apple, but the conclusion to a day-long series of updates on tech site TheNextWeb, which gave an outage on Apple’s iTunes and App Store rolling news-style natural disaster coverage. 

Perspective, eh? The outage was serious as these things go: more than eight hours offline for iTunes in certain markets. Eventually, a statement came from Apple: “The cause was an internal DNS error at Apple. We’re working to make all of the services available to customers as soon as possible, and we thank everyone for their patience.”
