YouTube famously keeps details of its revenues close to its chest, and insists its network of creators does the same. Thankfully, there are a fair few companies trying to get to the bottom of how much money is being made on the online video service. Outrigger Media’s latest chart focuses not on musicians, but on beauty and fashion channels. Still, it’s a neat insight into current per-view advertising rates after YouTube’s cut. The company’s chart ranges from GlamLifeGuru’s $1.4k of monthly earnings from 4.1m views to Yuya’s $54.6k from 41.2m views. Do the maths, and you come up with between $0.0013 and $0.0015 per video view for these creators. Or, to put it another way: a monthly income of $5k from YouTube ads alone would require around 3.6m monthly views. Bear in mind, though, that the beauty category is one of the prime areas for brand/sponsorship deals, which aren’t included in these figures.
