Pandora is beefing up its board of directors with a pair of industry veterans: Tim Leiweke and Roger Faxon. Leiweke was formerly CEO of promotions giant AEG, while Faxon held a series of senior roles at EMI, including CEO. Both men will start their new roles on Pandora’s board on 4 June

“Roger’s deep knowledge of the music business and Tim’s experience in entertainment will provide unique insights,” said CEO Brian McAndrews. Faxon published an op-ed for Billboard explaining his decision. “Music’s future does not lie in little bits of plastic or even their digital counterpart. It lies in being integral to the lives of as many people as possible,” he wrote. “Pandora has created a path that engages approximately 80 million people every month with our music. Many of these are people that we in the music industry have long ignored. They hardly bought a record or went to a concert… So, yes, I do think Pandora is part of the solution.”
