Well, that’s not *strictly* true as the top musician on YouTube is whoever plays the music for children’s nursery-rhymes channel Little Baby Bum, which had 385m views in March. But Swift is the top named artist in the latest OpenSlate/Tubefilter chart of YouTube channels, ranking third with 355.5m views last month – and the only one of the top five in the list not to be specifically aimed at kids.
In fact, Swift is the only musician to make the top 10 of the chart, with Maroon 5 in 13th place with 238.4m views in March. Indian music channel T-Series (15th with 226.7m views) and Dutch dance label Spinnin’ Records (17th with 222.7m views) also make the top 20. Vevo had 22 channels in the top 100, so artists are still a big presence on YouTube overall. According to the chart, the top 100 channels in March generated 15.8bn views that month.
