YouTube and Vevo may be the most popular music video apps, but there have been some interesting alternatives focused around live performances in recent years. The latest is VuHaus, armed with the slogan “Come In. See The Music.” It’s an iOS and Android app collecting live performances and interviews from public radio stations in the US, including KCRW in LA, WFUV in New York, KEXP in Seattle and KUTX in Austin.

The app will also stream some concerts and events live. “Explore curated video playlists, including local video channels, channels featuring touring and festival artists, and hand-picked playlists from the local tastemakers, musicians and artists,” explains its app store listing, which promises hundreds of new videos will be added every month. The VuHaus website explains more: it’s a non-profit service – yes, add your own jape about all digital music services being non-profit at this point – run by a firm called Public Media Company on behalf of its founding radio stations. “With hundreds of millions of views on YouTube, we are now ready to launch our own non-commercial, national service,” it explains.
