British retailer HMV is relaunching a full e-commerce website, although for now it will focus on selling CDs rather than digital downloads. “People are switching from downloads to streaming music, so digital is eating digital but physical music sales are recovering,” HMV boss Paul McGowan told the Telegraph, with the new site due to launch within weeks.

“We are careful that we don’t want to overcook it but there is a large potential for the UK website to lift the business.” It’s been a long road back from financial troubles for HMV under its parent company, investment firm Hilco, but the company claimed it sold more physical music than Amazon in the UK last Christmas.
