Social app Line launched its Line Creators Market a year ago: a way for illustrators to create and sell digital stickers to the company’s users. Yesterday, it provided some stats on how much money they’ve been making. According to Line, more than 390,000 creators have registered for the market, selling $75m worth of stickers in the last year – with the top 10 sticker sets earning an average of $421k over the course of the 12 months.
“Many characters originally designed as creators’ stickers have received merchandising and publishing deals, and more still have gone on to collaborate with other corporations, proving that the sticker-based platform has become an incubator for creativity and nurturing new ideas,” claimed Line. It’s also revamping its in-app sticker shop to showcase creator stickers alongside official stickers from brands and musicians – including Taylor Swift, who recently launched her first official sticker set on Line as a free download.
