Dick Costolo, the CEO of Twitter, is stepping down from his role in he coming weeks. Jack Dorsey, the network’s co-founder, will act as interim CEO until a permanent replacement is found. The Verge suggests that Costolo’s card was marked for the past few months due to an “anemic user growth and a struggling stock price”. Costolo started at the company as COO and was promoted to CEO in October 2010. He oversaw a sharp period of growth as well as an IPO but questions about his future at the company started to be asked as it became clear it was not closing the gap on Facebook, which managed to zoom past 1bn users. Incredibly, Snoop Dogg has (on Twitter, naturally) said he’d like to be the company’s new CEO. “Im ready to lead,” he tweeted. “First order of Business! Get that Moolah!” Amazing.
