Fashion brand Emporio Armani is getting into streaming music, albeit with a smartphone app tapping Spotify’s API. Emporio Armani Sounds was released this week for iPhone and Android as a free download. “ Listen to exclusive playlists and performances from your favorite artists,
the songs playing in your local Emporio Armani store or the soundtracks from the fashion shows – all with music by Spotify,” explains its app store listing. Interviews and live videos are also included, alongside social features. Playlist curators include Calvin Harris and Roisin Murphy, with Klaxons, La Roux, Mark Ronson and Boy George also featured. For now, the business model appears to be branding, with no sign of an in-app subscription.
