Apple sells 13m of its new iPhones – but China is the key


Yesterday, Apple announced that it had sold 13m of its new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus smartphones in their opening weekend on sale: a new record, and 3m units more than the 10m iPhone 6 and 6 Plus smartphones it sold in the comparable weekend last year. Cue the usual quotage: “Sales for iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” said CEO Tim Cook.
