Shakira is the latest celebrity to launch her own mobile game, in partnership with Angry Birds publisher Rovio Entertainment.

Love Rocks was released late last week, and involves swapping gems to make matches – more Bejeweled than Candy Crush Saga, if you know your mobile puzzle sub-genres.

“It’s a new platform through which I can communicate with my fans, it’s another outlet for my creativity,” Shakira told Refinery29. “I’ve been very involved with the design and creation of the game.”

Which is what you have to say as the star of a mobile game, of course. The game will make its money from in-app purchases of virtual gold coins, but on Android there’s an interesting promotional spin: anyone playing Love Rocks past level 12 on Android will get a free code to download Shakira’s ‘She Wolf’ album from Google Play – if they live in the US, Canada, Brazil, Spain, UK, Germany, France, Italy or Australia.

Which could irk fans elsewhere in the world. The mechanics of Apple’s App Store and iTunes store don’t make such an offer possible on iOS.
