‘Hello’ is definitely the song that fans are looking for (sorry Lionel) with Adele’s return breaking records on multiple platforms.
YouTube announced that the official ‘Hello’ video was watched 50m times within its first 48 hours, peaking at 1.6m views an hour.
“For comparison, the release of the massively anticipated full trailer for ‘Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens’ peaked at 1.2 million views per hour,” explained YouTube’s Kevin Allocca in a blog post noting that Adele’s Vevo channel also added 400k subscribers over the weekend.
In the UK, meanwhile, ‘Hello’ is on course to be the fastest-selling single of 2015 according to the Official Charts Company, which said yesterday that the single had a combined sales and streams figure of 165k, of which 156k were download sales.
‘Hello’ currently has more than 106m plays on YouTube, and 22.4m on Spotify.
