Ministry of Sound’s relationship with streaming services like Spotify? It’s complicated. But the company has always developed its own digital music services to sit alongside those of its distribution / sparring partners.
The latest is Ministry of Sound Live, which is available for iOS and Android. It’s a mix of themed channels (Chilled, Running Trax, Anthems etc), on-demand DJ mixes and a radio station called ‘Live’ that fulfils the same role for Ministry as Beats 1 does for Apple.
Meanwhile, the mixes come from DJs including Hardwell, Judge Jules, Mark Knight and Steve Aoki, leveraging Ministry’s relationships within the dance world. The app is entirely free, with no premium subscription at launch.
“This is an app for people who love music but don’t have hours to spend searching for the latest tracks and remixes or re-discovering the classics,” said CEO Lohan Presencer.
