Radio 1

British radio station Radio 1’s latest digital move is a show called Playlist, which will air every Thursday evening – but will also be downloadable via the BBC’s iPlayer Radio app.

The hour-long show will focus on music chosen by a different guest curator each week, including artists and existing DJs from the station. Daniel P. Carter’s Greatest Rock Songs Ever, Ellie Goulding’s Running Mix, Annie Mac’s Ibiza Classics, Grimmy’s Greatest Big Weekend Performances and so on.

“Radio 1 continues to innovate with the way we present and distribute the new music that our listeners love, and I’m excited to see whose playlists I’ll be able to download to my phone,” said controller Ben Cooper. “Across the industry, whether it be Spotify, Apple, or the BBC, we are all experimenting with reaching new audiences with audio in new ways.”
