One Direction are preparing for the release of their new album ‘Made in the A.M.’ with a new website, launched in partnership with Google.
The site gives fans a Street View virtual tour of the band’s studio space, with the promise of exclusive content, lyric reveals, video footage and photos in the two-week run-up to the album’s release.
The site also embeds One Direction’s official Spotify playlist, which now has more than 335k followers on that service; promotes the band’s social channels from Facebook and Twitter to Pinterest and Instagram; and encourages fans to pre-order the album from iTunes.
Syco Music and Sony Music were naturally part of the process as partners, while the actual site was made by We Make Awesome Sh.
The launch came as documents filed with Companies House in the UK revealed that One Direction’s revenues – as in their own company 1D Media which aggregates their touring, merchandising and recording income – increased from £49.1m in 2013 to £73.7m in 2014.
