Shortform-video subscription service Vessel has been getting some new features, including mobile-web support; the ability to sign in using Facebook and Google credentials; nested comments to make it easier to follow conversations; and the ability to pay its monthly subscription using PayPal.

But the most interesting is something called ‘Threads’ which aims to get Vessel’s community of video creators (musicians included) interacting directly with their fans. It’s all about using the app to pose questions, topics and challenges to fans through short videos posted to Vessel.

“Fans can use the Vessel app to respond to these directed threads with their own short videos. The result is a fun exchange of ideas, entertainment and insight between creators and fans from around the world.”

And something potentially quite different – and more powerful – than Vessel’s original form as a collection of videos and channels to watch.
