One news feed to rule them all? That approach may be changing for Facebook, which is testing a new system of multiple, themed news feeds for its mobile users.

“The new mobile design borrows heavily from the way Facebook’s Paper app works, with the app automatically sorting posts from the people and pages you follow into different sections,” explained The Verge.

“While the traditional ‘News Feed’ remains, it is supplemented with secondary feeds — like ‘Style,’ ‘Travel,’ and ‘Headlines’ — that are just a swipe away.”

Facebook has stressed that this remains a test, but there is clear potential for ‘Music’ to be one of those feeds: a way for people to ensure they are seeing more of the posts by artists they have followed on Facebook, at a time when “organic” reach of such posts in the main news feed has been declining steadily.

A feed of songs shared by friends – the ‘Music Stories’ feature launched in 2015 – as well as those posted by artists could be a popular feature on Facebook.
