Taiwanese music firm Omusic is launching its own version of Shazam: a music and humming recognition service.

It’ll help people identify songs that are playing in the real world, as well as getting them to hum into their smartphone’s microphone.

Automatic content recognition firm ACRCloud is providing the necessary technology, which Omusic hopes will encourage people to stream or download the tracks that they identify.

The company is a joint venture between Taiwanese telco Far EasTone and local music labels.
