New (old) Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is stamping his mark on the social network again, with a new mini-wave of departures of senior executives this week.
Over the weekend, Recode reported that Twitter’s head of media Katie Jacobs Stanton and head of product Kevin Weil were leaving, then followed up with the claim that the company’s engineering head Alex Roetter is also on the way out.
Some of its sources suggested that Vine boss Jason Toff and business development head Jana Messerschmidt may also be leaving Twitter.
“And there are likely more to come of all kinds, as CEO Jack Dorsey tries to take control of the company he founded and get it on a solid path of growth…”
The news comes as speculation increases about Twitter as an acquisition target – Google’s parent company Alphabet being the most-mentioned potential buyer – due to the social network’s share-price having slumped in recent months.
As Music Ally went to press this morning, Dorsey confirmed the departures in a tweet:
Was really hoping to talk to Twitter employees about this later this week, but want to set the record straight now: pic.twitter.com/PcpRyTzOlW
