The run-up to the release of Rihanna’s new album ‘ANTI’ may have seemed chaotic from the outside, but the star is happy with the initial reception – at least in terms of the number of downloads.
“1 MILLION in under 15 hrs!!!! NAVY R die!!!! Thank u to all my fans and @samsungmobileus,” she tweeted yesterday. “You guys legit made me the happiest girl in the world!! I’m so grateful that you appreciate the #ANTI album! It’s the most rewarding feeling”.
That’s 1m free downloads, we think, since ‘ANTI’ was made available on Tidal as a free-with-no-strings-attached download courtesy of Rihanna’s promotional deal with Samsung.
A “deluxe” version of the album comes out today, with three extra songs. Every one of those 1m free downloads included a 60-day free trial of Tidal, incidentally, so a fair few fans will be giving the streaming service a try now.
