13 of the 141 most powerful people in the music industry are women: just 9.2%.

That’s according to Billboard’s latest Power 100 list – the 141 is because some entries are two, three or four people ranked together – which makes it clear that white men of a certain age continue to rule the roost in the industry.

The top 10: Lucian Grainge; Michael Rapino; Trent Reznor, Jimmy Iovine, Robert Kondrk and Eddy Cue; Doug Morris; Martin Bandier; Irving Azoff; Coran Capshaw; Len Blavatnik; Rob Light; and Daniel Ek.

“Grainge finishes first for a second straight year because, in my eyes, his power is fueled by the creation of the material that powers the industry. Music can live without streaming, and music can even live without touring, but music cannot live without music,” wrote Billboard editor-in-chief Tony Gervino.

Reznor is the only artist to make the list – and that for his Apple role – Adele and Taylor Swift’s managers make the cut, but not the stars themselves.
