At last: you can stop reading tweets and clickbait articles about the new Kanye West album, and actually listen to it.
Fresh from a controversy around a lyric about Taylor Swift – West says she approved it, her spokespeople say she didn’t – the album ‘The Life of Pablo’ was mastered and released on Saturday night, including an exclusive stream on Tidal which is expected to last a week, much like Rihanna’s ‘ANTI’.
“Please for all music lovers. Please subscribe to tidal!!! I decided not to sell my album for another week. Please subscribe to tidal,” tweeted West.
“Tidal is also funding a lot of my scripted content ideas. It’s a new day people. More Ultra Light Dreams to be realized.”
He’s certainly having an effect on Tidal: in Apple’s US App Store, its app has roared up 186 places to become the most-downloaded free app as a result of the album launch. It’s also up 76 places to 26th in the top-grossing apps chart.
