Musician Amanda Palmer has made Patreon an important part of her income: she’s now making $34.4k from her backers on the crowdfunding service every time she publishes a new ‘thing’.
That’s according to the chart of top Patreon creators compiled by Graphtreon, which makes very interesting reading.
Palmer is the second biggest Patreon creator in terms of the number of patrons – she now has more than 7,800.
The top creator may be a surprise though: it’s the developer of an adult game called Breeding Season which involves “raising and breeding sexy monsters for sale to adventurous clients”. It has more than 10,000 patrons generating $30.5k per month for the developer.
Musicians are still relatively thin on the ground in the upper reaches of the Patreon charts: after Palmer, the next biggest is a cappella group Pentatonix, who currently earn $22.3k per music video from their 4,200+ patrons.
Podcasters, YouTubers, bloggers and adult interactive-fiction / game developers are all high in the list.
I’m loving patreon, it’s changed my life and my patrons are the kindest, loveliest humans I’ve ever come across! Excited for this revolutionary concept to become more commonplace in future
Amanda Palmer is less a musician and more a cult leader. She’s sold empty wine bottles over twitter. Truly, one of a kind.
