The ‘Deezer Geezer’ hasn’t retired just yet: he features in the streaming service’s new round of TV ads created for the UK.

However, the company is merrily flouting the latter half of the famous ‘never work with children or animals’ phrase with his co-stars. The first ad stars two dogs, with guinea pigs and rabbits to come later in the series.

The serious point here is that Deezer is focusing the ads on its Flow recommendations feature, which it wants to explain to more casual music fans.

“Our new ads are a playful and creative way to bring music streaming to an even wider audience,” said UK & Ireland MD Christian Harris. “Who doesn’t want to watch some bunnies discover drum‘n’bass?”

Add that to the list of ‘quotes we never expected to publish in a Music Ally story…

The latest series of ads are the work of creative agency PD3, and will run in the second half of this year on TV, outdoor, online and on London’s tube system.

According to Deezer, its last set of TV ads saw daily signups to the streaming service increase by 300%, while last week, Deezer UK overtook Deezer France for “most downloads in a single week” – suggesting momentum in the UK.
