Justin Bieber may have been one of the biggest stars on Instagram, but earlier this month he quit the app in high dudgeon after criticising his own fans then arguing with former partner Selena Gomez.
Despite overtures from Instagram – according to MTV, its team prepared “a spread of maple syrup pancakes from his Canadian homeland” to woo Bieber backstage at the recent V Festival – the star’s Insta-sulk has continued.
Fans were startled this weekend when Bieber posted a new photo of his dog to Instagram, only to see the star swiftly deactivate his account again while tweeting “Still no Instagram it was an accident”.

While the loss of a star with nearly 80 million followers is a blow for Instagram, it has plenty of other celebrities: not least Gomez, whose account has a Bieber-beating 97.3 million followers.
