Japanese pop/metal group Babymetal have won fans around the world with their music videos and live shows. Now they’re becoming the latest band to benefit from the interest in (and budgets for) original video content beyond the actual music.
The band are working with Warner Bros subsidiary Blue Ribbon Content and Amuse USA on an animated web series that promises to “enter the magical world of heavy metal music”.
“In a setup that sounds like it’s somewhere between Tenacious D, Power Rangers, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, a god named Kitsune will bring Babymetal together and implore them to save the world with the awesome power of their music,” reported Tubefilter.
“The group will travel between live-action and animated universes, delivering new performances in the former and acting as a ‘warrior band’ in the latter.”
It sounds fun, although there has been no announcement yet about which online video platform(s) the show will be made available on.
