Google Play Music has a new promotional deal to introduce its service to potential subscribers. Google is working with fitness app Runtastic, offering a selection of workout playlists within the company’s Android app. “After opening the Runtastic app’s music section, users will be presented with relevant workout playlists that they can play, pause and skip directly within the Runtastic app,” explained Google. The playlists are available in all of the (more than 60) countries where Google Play Music is available, while Runtastic iOS and Android users are also being offered free trials of the streaming service. It’s the latest example of a music/fitness crossover in the streaming market, with Spotify having launched its own ‘Running’ mode with specially-commissioned music, as well as powering a ‘Pace Stations’ feature in the Nike+ Running app, and pace-matched music in Adidas’ Go app.
