Why didn’t Kanye West appear on ‘Pop Style’, a track on Drake’s recent album ‘Views’? West has blamed Apple and Tidal for his disappearance from a track that he originally contributed a verse to.

“I wasn’t on this song ’cause of Hov. ‘Cause of this Tidal-Apple bullshit,” West told the crowd at his gig in Seattle this week.

“And this shit be getting me tight every time I perform this motherfucker. That y’all didn’t get what y’all were supposed to get with me and Drake on this song ’cause of some Tidal / Apple bulls**t.”

West later blamed “some political shit, some shit about percentages on songs. I can’t take this shit, bro!”

The latter quote hints at tensions beyond Apple and Tidal’s rivalry, but West’s earlier comments highlight another aspect of the exclusives battle in streaming music: the potential issues when an artist affiliated with one service wants to collaborate with an artist affiliated with another.
