When Prince died earlier this year, there was a considerable amount of untangling to be done around his estate and catalogue.

The temporary administrators of his estate announced their latest move yesterday, signing a worldwide partnership with Universal Music Publishing Group, which will cover his entire catalogue of works.

“We’re humbled to be entrusted with Prince’s catalog and I’m grateful to my entire team for their work in making this agreement a reality,” said chairman and CEO Jody Gerson.

UMPG isn’t giving much away yet on its plans for the catalogue bar its intention to work with Prince’s estate to “develop new creative outlets for his music”.

“We are pleased that UMPG shall once again administer Prince’s music publishing worldwide and assist the estate by giving Prince’s iconic music catalog the proper care and support it deserves,” said Charles Koppelman and L. Londell McMillan, who’d been brought in to secure new business agreements for the late star’s estate.
