We’ve seen a few official artist sticker packs for Apple’s newly-opened-up iMessage app on iOS. Now Warner Music Group has launched the most high-profile example yet: David Bowie.
Available as a free download, the pack features a selection of images based on Bowie iconography, from Ziggy Stardust to a line drawing of Bowie with one blue eye.
For now, WMG – which released the app through its Rhino subsidiary – isn’t making money from the app, either with an upfront download fee or through an in-app purchase to unlock more stickers, as some iMessage packs are doing.
Still, Bowie more than almost anything offers plenty of material for this kind of thing, so perhaps there’ll be more stickers in forthcoming updates.
Warner Music has already released iMessage sticker packs for Kylie Minogue, Dua Lipa and Charli XCX. Startups have also been exploring the potential for iMessage apps beyond stickers. For example, Mixmsg helps people to create Spotify-powered ‘mixtapes’ within Apple’s messaging app.
