Media group Time Inc has been the subject of an acquisition bid from an interesting trio: former Warner Music boss Edgar Bronfman Jr; the label group’s current owner Access Industries; and former Maker Studios chief Ynon Kreiz. Known best for magazines like Time, People and Sports Illustrated, Time has been working hard to expand its digital offerings in recent years. “The trio of executives have a long and friendly relationship. Kreiz is on the board of Warner Music Group, which is controlled by Access Industries,” noted the New York Post, which broke the story. Note: Time is also the owner of music magazine the NME, the British music magazine that went free last year after years of declining sales. Access Industries as a co-owner of Time would add to the interest surrounding Len Blavatnik’s long-term plans, given his company’s ownership of WMG, its controlling stake in Deezer and its investment in Songkick, among other moves.
