Remixes and mash-ups licensing platform Dubset is getting some positive PR this week, courtesy of a new collaboration between Major Lazer and Bad Royale. Billboard reports that the song’s prominent Toots & the Maytals sample would have made it “impossible to monetise” before Dubset stepped in, paving the track’s path to its partners Spotify and Apple. “An awesome example of how Dubset is pioneering a pathway for many special remixes and edits, previously only heard on the dance floor, to now be available to Spotify’s global audience,” as Spotify’s global programming head for electronic culture Austin Kramer put it.
