Dance star Kygo is the latest musician exploring virtual reality technology, launching an app called ‘Carry Me’ for PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift.
For now, it’s only available in the US, Canada and Mexico though. The app, which is being billed as a “premium format”, is based on Kygo’s song ‘Carry Me’, putting fans into a virtual world of oceans, forests, mountains and ultimately the galaxy around it.
The app is the result of a partnership between Sony Music, Ultra Records and virtual reality firm MPC VR.
The experience was first announced in October 2016, and was originally slated for launch the following month. For now, it’s only launching for high-end VR headsets, although Sony’s note that additional VR platforms will be supported “soon” hopefully hints at plans to get it onto mobile VR devices too, which would considerably expand its potential audience.
