Rapper 2 Chainz is the latest artist to dive in to virtual reality: in this case, through an experience called ‘Trap House’ running on Universal Music’s VRTGO platform.
Launched online as well as for Samsung’s Gear VR headset, it’s a virtual representation of 2 Chainz’s Riverdale Road, Atlanta house, with fans encouraged to explore it to hear songs from his upcoming album ‘Pretty Girls Like Trap Music’.
Keen fans can also visit 2 Chainz’s online store and pay $14.98 for a pair of VR goggles – complete with prominent ‘PARENTAL ADVISORY EXPLICIT CONTENT’ logo – and get an MP3 download of the album thrown in.
VR firm VRLIVE built the experience for Universal, with label Def Jam noting that the album’s release last Friday was accompanied by a Spotify playlist curated by basketballer Kevin Durant, Nicki Minaj and Erykah Badu among other stars.
