Ticketmaster is the latest music company to be dipping its toes in the waters of messaging bots.

It has launched a bot called Ticketmaster Assistant for Facebook Messenger, which promises to help customers find concerts, sports matches, films and other events through a conversational interface.

“Where is Ed Sheeran touring?” and “Find jazz shows in London” are two of the example queries given when people start interacting with the bot, which is global – we’ve been quizzing it about gigs in London, Barcelona and Paris this morning.

“You can also set a home city to make your conversations go even faster,” explained Ticketmaster in an as-yet unpublished blog post quoted by AdWeek.

“While the search data covers 83 countries, currently the global experience is provided in English.”

The bot will also enable people to share links with friends within Messenger, with those deep-linking into Ticketmaster’s purchase process.
