Stardom on social app Musical.ly isn’t just about lip-syncing and dancing in front of a smartphone. Some of its most popular ‘musers’ are starting to record their own music, and even go on tour.
German twins Lisa and Lena are the latest example of the latter. Having joined the app in August 2015, the pair now have 21 million fans on the platform, and a deal with Warner Music Group which includes running their online store.
Yesterday, Lisa and Lena confirmed plans for their first tour of the UK, in late August and early September. Don’t get too carried away: the fact that their London date is at the 600-capacity The Garage venue rather than an arena hints at a testing of the waters here, perhaps ahead of larger events ahead.
Lisa and Lena have already been meeting some of the larger WMG family: in March Ed Sheeran crashed their recording of a clip featuring his track ‘Galway Girl’.
