YouTube has revealed the launch date for its Best.Cover.Ever talent contest, which will challenge young wannabes to cover tracks by an array of popular artists.
The competition will kick off on 20 November, and as previously announced is hosted by rapper Ludacris, with Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Jason Derulo, Flo Rida, Nicky Jam, Charlie Puth and the Backstreet Boys among the artists judging entries, which were covers of some of their famous hits.
The judges have already been picking their favourite entries, which were teased in a series of ‘sneak peek’ clips posted on the Best.Cover.Ever channel yesterday.
Lovato’s picks video has already been watched 124k times. Some of the individual covers, posted by entrants on their own channels then showcased by YouTube, have also been doing big numbers: 9.5m views for Avery’s cover of Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’ and 1.2m views for Kurt Hugo Schneider’s cover of Flo Rida’s ‘My House’ for example.
